What happens to my registration if I sell or stop letting?
You can deactivate the property entry yourself. If you sell with tenants in place, the buyer can make their own entry once contracts are exchanged. While a property is let, keep its entry up to date within 28 days of any change.
The detail
If you stop letting a property or sell it, you can deactivate its entry yourself. When your last property entry becomes inactive, your landlord entry becomes inactive too. If you sell with tenants in place, the buyer can make their own entry once contracts have been exchanged.
Note: The rules do not set a deadline for deactivating an entry after you sell or stop letting. While the property is let, any change must be updated within 28 days.

If any information or document on your entry goes out of date (for example a new gas safety record), you must update it within 28 days.
