Can I register before my region's date?
Yes. Anyone can register from 15 December 2026, whichever region the property is in. Your region's date is when the legal duty starts for you; you then have until your region's deadline. The government says the fee is pro-rated during the rollout, so registering early does not cost more.
The detail
You do not have to wait for your region: you can register whenever you want from 15 December 2026, as long as you register before the deadline for the area the property is in.

The legal duty to register starts region by region, one month apart, beginning with the West Midlands on 15 December 2026. Once it starts in your region you have about three months: your deadline is the 14th day of the third month. You can register earlier than that if you want to.
Note: The deadlines come from government guidance. The commencement regulations that make them legally binding had not been published when we last checked.

The government says the fee is £65 per property per year, paid each time you register or renew a property. During the rollout the fee will be pro-rated, so registering early does not cost you more.
Note: The regulations do not fix the amount; the database operator sets it, so it can change (for example with inflation). The exact pro-rated amounts have not been published.
