When does my registration need renewing?
Every year. Your first property renews on the last day of the 12 months after you registered it, and properties you add later share that date, so they all renew together. If you miss it, the entry becomes inactive the next day.
The detail
Your first property entry renews on the last day of the 12 months starting on the day you made it. Properties you add later take the same renewal date, so all your properties renew together. Renewing needs the fee.

If you do not renew by the renewal date, the entry becomes inactive the next day. Letting a property without active entries is a breach of the duty, and councils can fine you for it.

The government says the fee is £65 per property per year, paid each time you register or renew a property. During the rollout the fee will be pro-rated, so registering early does not cost you more.
Note: The regulations do not fix the amount; the database operator sets it, so it can change (for example with inflation). The exact pro-rated amounts have not been published.
