• The government says the fee is £65 per property per year, paid each time you register or renew a property. During the rollout the fee will be pro-rated, so registering early does not cost you more.

  Note: The regulations do not fix the amount; the database operator sets it, so it can change (for example with inflation). The exact pro-rated amounts have not been published.

• Councils can issue a civil penalty of up to £7,000 if you let or advertise a property without the required active entries.
